Grant Shand

Principal

Grant Shand is a litigation lawyer with more than 20 years experience.

Grant currently has the most cases of anyone in the High Court earthquake list. His other particular area of expertise is in leaky home/leaky building cases.

He is recognised as an expert in the field and obtains excellent results for homewners or building parties in leaky home/leaky building claims in the Weathertight Homes Tribunal or in Courts.

Victoria brings a broad range of legal experience and expertise having worked in the legal industry since 2007, primarily in Litigation. Victoria also has experience in the property sector of Law (both residential & commercial).

Paul Biddle

Paul graduated from the University of Waikato in 1999. Prior to working at Grant Shand, Paul worked for an Auckland boutique insurance litigation firm providing advice to both insurer and insured clients. Paul has extensive experience working with construction litigation claims acting for owners of “Leaky Homes”.

Paul has previously worked in the public sector and provided policy and operational advice for over 10 years on building and construction issues. Paul’s current practice primarily focuses on representing insureds in earthquake claim disputes.

Jeremy Morriss

Jeremy concluded his LLB and BCom (in Economics) at the University of Canterbury in 2012. He was admitted to the Bar in December 2013.

Since working for Grant Shand he has primarily been involved with Insurance disputes and claims arising out of the Canterbury Earthquake events. He regularly appears in the High Court on Earthquake cases.

Aimee Mackey

Aimee graduated with an LLB(Hons)/BA from the University of Auckland in May 2017.

Aimee worked at a large commercial law firm in the employment team prior to joining the team at Grant Shand.

Ruby Fenwick

Ruby graduated with an LLB/BCom in May 2018 from the University of Otago. She was admitted to the bar in November 2018.

Prior to joining the team at Grant Shand, Ruby has had experience in civil litigation at a small law firm in Auckland.
